TransLink boosts spring bus service on 42 Metro Vancouver routes
Improvements on five of the most overcrowded bus routes in the region

NEW WESTMINSTER, BC – More frequent and reliable transit is coming to Metro Vancouver this spring, as TransLink increases bus service on 42 routes. These changes will help relieve overcrowding on the system, reduce congestion on the roads, and improve customer convenience around the region.
TransLink’s Spring Service Changes take effect Monday, April 20, and include:
- Improvements on five of the most overcrowded routes: #99, R4, #335, #240, and #106.
- Increasing seasonal service on 10 routes to popular outdoor destinations, like Grouse Mountain, Spanish Banks, and Buntzen Lake, while reintroducing seasonal service on three more routes.
- Boosting frequency on #19: the largest increase of any route this spring, improving connections between Metrotown and Stanley Park.
- Extending service hours on #388 to 9 p.m. on weeknights, providing more options on one of Surrey’s key east-west routes.
- More westbound weekday morning service on the R4 41st Ave RapidBus.
These boosts in bus service have been made possible through TransLink’s 2025 Investment Plan, which delivers the largest bus service expansion since 2018. The top five municipalities getting the most additional bus service hours through Spring Service Changes are:
- Vancouver – nearly 22,000 hours (changes on 15 routes).
- Burnaby – more than 13,000 hours (changes on 10 routes).
- Richmond – almost 8,500 hours (changes on six routes).
- New Westminster – over 8,000 hours (changes on seven routes).
- Langley Township – more than 4,000 hours (changes on four routes).
With these new increases, including improvements to 37 routes this past winter, TransLink will have added more than 40 per cent of bus service expansion funded through the plan — with more improvements on the way this year.
